                                          Smile :)

What is the first thing that comes in your mind when you hear the term 'smile'?
It could either be a picture of a facial expression or a thought of happiness.
Smile, simply means, a little curve on your lips which arises when you are feeling good. A smile is a polite gesture which creates a healthy relation with everyone around you.

If you google the word 'smile', you will come across thousands of articles. All of them have one thing in common- to serve the importance of smile among the readers.

Smiling is directly proportional to happiness but sometimes, it is  necessary to smile even when you are not happy. Now you might be thinking that how can anyone keep smiling when the situation around, is not positive. But as soon as you will get to know the power of smile, surely you will try to smile, everytime.

"The expression one wears on one's face is far more important than the clothes one wears on one's back"       -Dale Carnegie

 Power Of Smile :)

There are indefinite super powers which your smile holds. Let's get into some of them:

➪Boosts your immune system:

Your body is more relaxed when you smile, and relaxation provides good health and a stronger immune system. So, contribute a little to your physical as well as mental health by giving this little curve on your lips and smile.

➪Makes you look more attractive:

What do you do to look more attractive?
"I apply my liner and lipstick which makes my look attractive. Makeup is my best friend.", says Aarna.
A small piece of information for Aarna: A research study conducted by Orbit Complete discovered that 69% of people find women more attractive when they smile than when they are wearing makeup. Now, its upto you to decide who should be your best friend- makeup or a smile.

Let's make this point a little more clear:
Think about someone who you know and think of first when they are down, sad, angry. How attractive are they? Now picture them simply with a smile on their face. I am pretty sure you would have easily found the smiling version pf them much more attractive.

➪Enhances your business:

Is there any relationship between smile and a business? Yes, a relation exists.
Who would you rather buy something from? From a businessman who looks bored, angry, uninterested, frustrated or the other businessman that is simply smiling and happy to see you and interact with you?
A smiling person would be much more enthusiastic for the product and instil positive feelings in the buyer.
So, don't forget to keep a smile on your face while you interact with your customers.
"Your smile is your logo, your personality is your business card, how you leave others feeling after having an experience with you becomes your trademark."

➪Relieves stress:

Who isn't stressed in this busy life? Almost everyone is.
Everyone have their own methods to deal with stress. It could either be hitting the gym to sweat out the stress or chilling in a club on Saturday night with continuous shots.
Mine is, to keep smiling. Your body immediately releases some kind of stress reducing hormones when you smile, even when you force it.
In your list of 'how you relieve your stress', try adding a simple exercise of smiling and feel the difference by yourself.

Smile Hormones :)

There is no particular hormone which can be termed as 'smile hormones' but certainly there are hormones which gets boosted when you smile.
When a smile flashes across your face, dopamine, endorphins and serotonin(hormones which are connected to your happiness level) are all released into your bloodstream, making not only your body relax but also work to lower your heart rate and blood pressure.

Isn't it truly amazing to know that 'a smile' can create so much of positive differences into our lives?

Smile- Real vs. Fake!

People smile when they're frightened, are flirting, horrified or mortified. An embarrassed smile reveals itself through an averted gaze, a facial touch and a tilt of the head down to the left.
People also smile when they're lying, a fact not lost on Shakespeare: Hamlet marvels at how "one may smile, and smile, and be a villain."
In addition to the Duchenne smile, Ekman described seventeen other types of smile in his 1985 book, Telling Lies.

In fact researcher, Dr. Niedenthal says that there are three ways to distinguish between a real and a fake smile:
-Our brain compares the geometry of a person's face to a standard smile.
-We think about the situation and judge whether a smile is expected.
-We automatically mimic the smile, to feel by ourselves whether it is fake or real.

Beside all this, a real smile comes out of genuine emotions and a fake smile is followed up by some intentions.

How to keep up a genuine smile?

Its fortunate that smiling can be learnt, or to put more precisely, re-learnt. I am talking about that genuine smile which comes out of heart and not the one which we adapt for the sake of sociality.
Let's get into some of the simple methods to get your genuine, Duchenne smile back:

➺Train your mind to be positive:

Flipping negatives into positives is a power of a superhuman. Focus on what makes you happy to be alive, look after your body and improve, give positivity to feel positive, and that is how you train your mind to be positive.

➺Visualize your happier moments:

Think about your moment of joy before attending any event. This will keep up your happy mood during the event.
Personally, I always try to do this experiment before a phone call or even before I sit down to update a blog. I've found that people can always tell if you have a smile on your face, even if they don't see you.

➺Practice smiling:

-Did you just lost your penny? Smile.
-Does your co-worker patronize you? Smile.
-Does your boss scream at you? Smile.

However, you can give a minute or two, to feel sorry about these situations but then, smile again.
If you can turn smiling into a habit, then surely you can turn happiness into a habit.

"Smile, it's a free therapy."   -Douglas Horton

 ➺Surround yourself with positive influencers:

The presence of those around you can influence your smiles as well.
An experiment led by Robert Kraul, reported that bowlers smiled more often when facing their friends in the pit than when facing pins on the lane.
People smile more when they imagine others around then than when they're alone.

Smile, smile, repeat :)

Your smile is beautiful  -To someone who has seen a dozen people frown, scowl or turn their faces away, your smile is like the sun breaking through the clouds.
"Encouragement to others is something everyone can give. Somebody needs what you have to give. It may not be your money; it may be your time. It may be your listening ears. It may be your arms to encourage, It may be your smile to uplift. Who knows?"                                                  -Joel Osteen

So yeah, I am one of those people who always smile even when I don't have any specific reason to smile.
May be that is why I am blessed with the name, Aashi, which literally means Smile, Joy, Laughter, Blessing.
